The Role

The Internal Network Services team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Infrastructure Engineer to provide technical leadership and operational ownership across network infrastructure, hardware lifecycle management, inventory operations, and automation initiatives. This role combines hands-on network engineering responsibilities with oversight of critical infrastructure assets supporting enterprise network operations.

The candidate will serve as the primary onsite technical resource responsible for physical network hardware management, troubleshooting, equipment deployment, inventory controls, and procurement coordination. In parallel, this individual will contribute to network engineering efforts focused on infrastructure modernization, automation, operational efficiency, and lifecycle management.

This position represents a strategic evolution of the traditional inventory-focused role and is designed to support the organization's long-term modernization initiatives through increased engineering capability and automation expertise. Approximately 60% of the role will focus on Network Engineering and Infrastructure Operations, with the remaining 40% dedicated to Inventory Management, Asset Lifecycle Operations, and Procurement Coordination.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including switches, routers, optics, and related hardware.
  • Provide onsite technical support for network equipment installation, failure remediation, diagnostics, and hardware replacement activities.
  • Support network refresh programs, infrastructure deployments, and modernization initiatives.
  • Develop automation solutions to streamline provisioning, inventory management, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve infrastructure reliability, operational scalability, and service delivery.
  • Assist with technical validation, configuration standards, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in incident response and restoration efforts requiring physical access to network equipment.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, implementation procedures, and lifecycle records.
  • Serve as primary owner of network hardware inventory and asset accountability.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar inventories of network infrastructure equipment, including switches, routers, optics, cabling, and supporting components.
  • Oversee hardware lifecycle management from procurement through deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Coordinate equipment ordering, vendor engagement, procurement tracking, and asset readiness activities.
  • Manage return material authorization (RMA) processes and replacement hardware logistics.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, asset tracking records, and operational reporting.
  • Coordinate warehouse activities and ensure timely availability of equipment for operational and project-driven requirements.
  • Identify automation opportunities that improve inventory visibility, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, and enterprise networking principles.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or similar network platforms.
  • Experience supporting hardware deployments, lifecycle management, and infrastructure operations.
  • Experience with inventory management, asset tracking, procurement processes, or logistics coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues involving network hardware.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work onsite and perform physical hardware handling activities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with network automation using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, APIs, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems, inventory databases, and operational reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Experience integrating operational data into reporting dashboards and analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of infrastructure lifecycle planning and hardware refresh programs.
  • ITIL or related operational process experience.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and operational automation initiatives.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$84,629 - $112,838 in these states: UT
