The Role

Make an impact with technology that matters.

We’re looking for Solution Engineers who love solving complex business challenges with innovative technology. You’ll partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to design modern solutions for enterprise customers as they embrace digital transformation.

In this customer-facing role, you’ll uncover business needs, architect solutions across Lumen’s technology platforms, and become a trusted advisor who helps customers achieve measurable outcomes.


    

Location and Schedule

This is a work from home position, however the appropriate candidate should live in one of these Metro Areas:

  • Portland, OR
  • Vancouver, WA
  • Seattle, WA
  • Bellevue, WA
  • Salt Lake City, UT

 

Will require at least 25% of time conducting sales activities outside of the office.

Hours are normal business hours 8am-5pm.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead customer conversations and technical presentations (virtual & in-person)
  • Discover business and technical requirements and design tailored solutions
  • Translate complex technology into clear business value
  • Build architectures leveraging network, cloud, security, and collaboration services
  • Participate in RFPs, workshops, solution demos, and proofs-of-concept
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to win and grow business
  • Provide feedback to improve products and customer experience
  • Travel occasionally as needed

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in CS/Engineering/MIS or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in technical pre-sales, engineering, or consulting
  • Experience with enterprise architecture and solution design
  • Knowledge in one or more of:
    • global networks
    • edge/cloud platforms
    • security solutions
    • communications & collaboration
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to simplify complexity and solve problems creatively
  • Comfortable working independently and on cross-functional teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • AWS Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect
  • Kubernetes CKA/CKAD (edge + modern app relevance)
  • Cisco CCNA → CCNP Enterprise
  • Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP
  • MEF-CECP (carrier ethernet)
  • SD-WAN vendor certs:
    • VMware VeloCloud
    • Cisco SD-WAN
    • Fortinet Secure SD-WAN

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$99,225 - $132,300 in these states: UT  
$104,192 - $138,915 in these states: OR  
$109,148 - $145,530 in these states: WA
