The Role
This role is the most senior marketing executive in APAC. The candidate will lead the team planning and executing marketing activities to achieve the financial and strategic objectives of the business, including marketing strategy, marketing operations, sales and product alignment, budget management and tracking return on marketing investment.
The APAC Marketing Director should have considerable senior leadership experience and a demonstrated track record of success and performance in marketing management, thorough knowledge of B2B marketing principles, product or service management, demand creation/business development, and brand management across all media.
This senior leadership position requires the ability to understand changing market dynamics, translate them into actionable strategy and implement the strategy to achieve objectives in the marketing plan.
Key responsibilities include brand development and awareness in region, public relations and analyst relations, demand creation, customer marketing / account base marketing, and alliance marketing.
Responsibilities
- Develop marketing strategies and plans that align with business goals and execute these in region marketing plans in alignment with the region’s business plan.
- Drive alignment between all elements of the go-to-market model – sales, marketing & product management
- Stay up-to-date with latest market trends, perform market demand analysis, segmentation and targeting exercises.
- Map out the potential buying process for our products & services in region, including demand units within target accounts and the key roles that will participate in it.
- Drive the execution of in-region marketing program and campaigns. This is likely to be a combination of global programs and campaigns (utilizing global assets) supplemented with local campaigns and local marketing assets. Execution is through inbound and outbound marketing techniques but also by orchestrating sales activities (sales plays).
- Work with Corporate AR and PR to develop an ‘in-region’ public relations, analyst relations and social media plan to support awareness and demand generation objectives.
- Work with APAC product management & sales teams on launch planning and orchestrate execution of the commercial release of products in region, including campaign strategy to generate awareness and drive demand.
- Drive customer base marketing / account base marketing in support of strategic/large account development to drive upsell/cross sell to increase average customer lifetime value.
- Oversee integrated marketing execution and optimization across the region, inclusive of disciplines such as events & digital marketing, and data insights.
- Manage the web and digital marketing strategy for the region.
- Develop a range of customer testimonials for external/internal use, including written and video case studies.
- Profit & loss responsibility – management of head count, marketing budget and overall investment strategy
What We Look For in a Candidate
Experience:
- A strong strategic and business thinker with at least 12+ years of b-to-b marketing experience
- A seasoned people leader with experience managing and leading a regional team directly.
- A marketing thought leader who is creative and able to make things happen at scale across broad audience.
- A strong operational driver of rigour and execution across marketing domains and disciplines
- Solid understanding of and appreciation for marketing automation concepts, marketing operations, integrated marketing and digital marketing. Strong analytical capabilities to make smart data driven, business tradeoffs.
- Proven ability to tie demand creation efforts directly to sales pipeline, including inbound marketing, lead development and nurturing, and tele-prospecting. Track record of aligning with sales around these tasks is vital.
- Customer- and market-driven orientation; able to develop strategies for creating pipeline for new offerings as well as upsell, cross-sell and account-based marketing programs to grow existing relationships.
- Has managed customer marketing, including account-based marketing and advocacy programs.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the infrastructure requirements of marketing, including marketing automation, paid media, content syndication, web marketing, business intelligence and marketing point tools (e.g. email).
- History of building programs that serve various routes to market/ countries in APAC.
- Brand management for B-to-B organizations, including extending current brands into new markets, managing brands through acquisition, and developing a new brand; ability to demonstrate the brand’s role in the marketing ecosystem.
- Experience in media relations and analyst relations management.
