The Role
Lumen is seeking a Principal Solution Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership across SAP BRIM, SAP S/4HANA, and enterprise financial platforms supporting billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, payments, collections, cash application, and cash accounting. This role will define the target-state architecture, integration strategy, and technology roadmap that enables scalable, secure, and resilient customer financial operations across multiple business segments.
As a trusted technology leader, you will partner with business and IT stakeholders to drive modernization, automation, architectural governance, and digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SAP BRIM, particularly Convergent Invoicing (CI) and FI-CA, along with extensive experience designing complex integrations across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems.
The Main Responsibilities
- Serve as the enterprise architecture lead for SAP BRIM, including Convergent Invoicing (CI), FI-CA, Convergent Charging (CC),
- Convergent Mediation (CM), and Subscription Order Management (SOM).
- Lead solution architecture and design for billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, payments, collections, refunds, customer statements, cash application, and financial reconciliation processes.
- Define and govern integrations between SAP BRIM, SAP S/4HANA FICO, Salesforce, payment processors, banking and treasury systems, customer portals, and enterprise data platforms.
- Establish enterprise integration standards leveraging APIs, SAP Integration Suite/CPI, event-driven architectures, Kafka, and secure file-based interfaces.
- Provide architectural leadership for high-volume payment processing, financial controls, payment reconciliation, and customer financial operations.
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Billing Operations, Product Management, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable and automated business capabilities.
- Lead technical governance, architecture reviews, solution assessments, and vendor evaluations while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
- Develop architecture roadmaps, technical blueprints, integration specifications, and implementation standards while mentoring architects and engineering teams.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- 12+ years of enterprise solution architecture experience.
- 8+ years of SAP architecture experience.
- 5+ years of SAP BRIM experience with expertise in Convergent Invoicing (CI), FI-CA, billing, payments, collections, and cash application.
- Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA FICO, financial postings, cash accounting, reconciliation processes, and subledger-to-general ledger integrations.
- Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale integrations across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
- Deep understanding of customer billing, accounts receivable, payment processing, collections, and financial operations.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred:
- Experience within telecommunications, subscription-based, or recurring revenue business models.
- Hands-on experience with SAP Integration Suite/CPI, API Management, Kafka, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience integrating SAP BRIM with payment providers, banking platforms, treasury systems, Salesforce, and customer-facing digital channels.
- Experience leading ERP transformation, billing modernization, or financial systems consolidation initiatives.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, AI-enabled automation, and modern enterprise integration platforms.
- Demonstrated success influencing enterprise technology strategy and driving cross-functional architectural decisions.
- Experience developing technology roadmaps and governance frameworks for large-scale financial systems.
- Ability to lead through complexity and align diverse stakeholders around strategic technology outcomes.
Compensation
| This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
